At its June 8 meeting the Tangipahoa Parish council confirmed four board appointments, approved the Tangi Times as the parish's official journal for July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027, and shared community announcements including the parish's youth fishing rodeo.
Appointments: The council appointed Joseph William Sims to Hospital Service District No. 1 (North Oaks Hospital Board) for a term recorded as expiring in April 2032 (the transcript recorded the year as '3032'; the minutes correct that apparent typographical error to 2032). The council also approved the appointment of Janelle Crease to Ponchatoula Area Recreation District No. 1 (term to April 2031), reappointed Clifton Dean Morgan to Recreation District 39A (term to April 2031), and reappointed Major Baker to Amite Area Recreation District No. 3 (term to April 2030). Each nomination was moved, seconded and approved by roll call as recorded in the meeting minutes.
Official journal: On a motion and second, the council voted to accept the Tangi Times' bid as the official parish journal for the 2026–27 year; the vote was taken by roll call.
Community announcement: President Miller reminded residents to monitor the Tangipahoa Parish government Facebook page for road‑work notices and announced the 3rd annual youth fishing rodeo at Zuri Park in Hammond on June 13, noting that more than 400 youngsters had registered. Gates open at 7:30 a.m.; fishing starts at 9 a.m.
No liquor permits or legal matters were reported during the session.
