The Hoover City Schools board on June 9 formally introduced a cohort of spring administrative hires, the superintendent and communications director said, and officials emphasized that most appointments were internal promotions.
Executive director of communications Merrick Wilson introduced the group and asked each new administrator to come forward. The new hires include Mr. Audrey Bennett (introduced as joining South Shades), Leah Collie, Emily Fogleman, Bren Rosmer and Darius Taylor, among others; Scott Mitchell was introduced as the district’s new chief administrative officer.
Merrick Wilson said the district had worked to 'grow our own' leaders, noting that all but two of the hires were already in, or recently connected to, Hoover City Schools. Several administrators who spoke at the podium thanked board members and family, described their prior roles as teachers, instructional coaches or assistant principals, and expressed enthusiasm for serving students in new positions.
Superintendent remarks framed the hiring wave as an investment in leadership: 'Everything rises and falls on leadership,' a board member said in congratulating the cohort. The board offered formal congratulations; introductions filled much of the meeting’s recognition agenda.
No personnel votes were recorded during introductions; the consent agenda earlier in the meeting included routine personnel actions and was approved by the board.
