The Bloomfield Public Library Board of Trustees voted on June 9 to approve $1,000 to reimburse a recent staff-development lunch and to fund additional staff appreciation events.
Trustee Friedman moved the motion and Trustee Claudia seconded. The chair closed discussion, called for the voice vote and recorded the motion as adopted after trustees verbally responded in favor. The motion provided $1,000 to cover the lunch cost (the vendor named in the meeting was a local business) and to seed further summer staff-appreciation activities.
Earlier in the meeting the director had requested the reimbursement and explained the purpose: to recognize staff after an intensive transition and training period related to hiring and the consortium migration. "It was the most serious staff development day we've had," Elizabeth said when she presented the request.
Separately, the board moved and seconded approval of the minutes from the March 10, 2026 meeting; the minutes were approved by voice vote. The board also confirmed its next regular meeting for July 14, 2026 at 6:00 p.m., to be held at Prosser Library in room 218, and adjourned the June 9 meeting.
What happens next: staff will be reimbursed per the approved motion and trustees will receive updates on subsequent staff-appreciation activities and ongoing operational items at future meetings.
