Mr. Hill gave a first reading of the Pflugerville ISD 2024-25 draft student code of conduct on June 20, telling trustees the document contains few substantive changes because the legislature did not meet. He said staff solicited input from principals and highlighted proposed language edits in the board book.
Hill noted one change suggested by TASB clarifying the distinction between nicotine products and e-cigarettes. He said the final draft will be reviewed by legal counsel and brought back to the board next month for action.
Trustees thanked Hill for early work on the code; one trustee asked staff to explore the implications of the Surgeon General's advisory on social media and its potential impact on students. Trustees also discussed monitoring proposed legislative changes to Chapter 37 and reviewing accountability previews from TEA ahead of the school year.
