Bus driver urges board to extend transportation director's tenure, alleges staff sabotage

Delford Hastings, a district bus driver, told the Pflugerville ISD Board on June 20 that Executive Director Casey Davis should have his contract renewed and that staff on Davis's team had "sabotaged him." Hastings said he and coworkers believe allegations against Davis are untrue and asked trustees to extend Davis's leadership by at least two years.
Hastings said the transportation department faced long-standing cultural problems before Davis arrived about eight months ago and credited Davis with holding people "accountable for their jobs." He told the board that supporters presented a petition and names to HR and that trustees Dr. Stevens and Ms. Baker responded to that petition.
The remarks were delivered during the public-comment period; President Mitchell noted that under the Texas Open Meetings Act the board cannot act on items not on the posted agenda. No personnel action was taken during the open meeting; the board later moved into closed session under the personnel exemption.
