Craig Shagnus, co‑chair of the fundraising committee, told the board the campaign had grown from about $155,000 to $217,000 in roughly three weeks and publicly thanked local businesses and organizations for contributions. He announced, "we've received an anonymous donation of $150,000," and said the gift covers an estimated $92,000 cost increase to change the front building plans from 96 by 30 to 110 by 36; the donor will also supply kitchen equipment.
Building committee members said bids for site work, the main building and foundation will go out next week, and Hancock Lumber is preparing a materials estimate for the front building. The committee expects additional subcontracts (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) will be sent out once final building designs are complete.
Shagnus said scoreboard sponsorships and banner tiers are part of the fundraising strategy and that the committee expects to meet or exceed a $500,000 campaign goal. The board asked staff to coordinate bid advertising and noted support from Trout Unlimited for interpretive work at East Falls.
Next steps: the building committee will issue the advertised bids and return to the board with bid results; fundraising will continue as the committee works toward its $500,000 benchmark.
