The Office for the Aging presented and the Human Services Committee accepted the lowest responsible bid for transportation services to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Rochester d/b/a Catholic Charities Steuben/Livingston. The contract covers June 1, 2026, through May 31, 2027, with four one-year renewal options and an annual not-to-exceed amount of $59,276, funded by state unmet needs (Office for the Aging) funds.
Director Sue Carlock described the contract as addressing a critical unmet need for wheelchair-accessible transportation and said the award will support meal delivery access and other older-adult mobility services. The motion to approve the contract carried after committee review (Mr. Wester moved, Mrs. Erdle seconded).
Carlock also presented program service totals for January–April 2026: 25,307 total service units including 17,571 home-delivered meals and 7,736 congregate meals, more than 1,300 information and assistance calls, and other supports. The county noted rising service demand and constrained federal and state funding growth. Two Livingston County residents, Sherry Kramer and Mary Ann Thompson, were recognized at the NYS Older New Yorker event and highlighted for volunteer service.
