The Harwinton Zoning Commission on June 8 approved an application by Tim Neal for a 28-by-28-foot detached garage at 24 Fitzpatrick Avenue, after members found the proposed structure met the town’s front-yard setback requirement. The commission recorded the approval with the condition that an as-built survey be submitted after construction is complete.
The site plans, titled Topographic Survey (May 2026) and prepared by land surveyor Timothy G. Wyllie, Jr., show the proposed garage would sit 52 feet from the front property line in a Town Residential zone that requires a 50-foot front-yard setback. Land Use Coordinator Polly Redmond told the commission that approvals from TAHD and IWWC had been received.
Secretary Deborah Kovall moved to approve the application with the condition that the applicant provide an as-built upon completion; the motion was seconded by Commissioner David Sawoska and passed unanimously. Commissioners present for the votes were Chairman Theodore Root, Secretary Deborah Kovall, Commissioner David Sawoska and Alternate Member Julie Erwin, who was seated for Michelle Whitford.
The meeting also recorded the earlier procedural approval of the May 11, 2026 minutes (motion by Sawoska; second by Kovall), and adjourned at 8:20 p.m. after a motion by Sawoska, seconded by Erwin, which passed unanimously.
