Supervisor McVicker moved to approve the canvass resolution; Supervisor Lukensmeyer seconded. The roll call on the resolution recorded Ayes: Lukensmeyer, McVicker and Vanness; Nays: none.
The certification lists candidates nominated for county offices in the primary, including Larry Sailer (Board of Supervisors, District 1), Richard Lukensmeyer (Board of Supervisors, District 2), Andrea Miller (County Attorney), Heather Bushbaum (County Recorder) and Chad Murray (County Treasurer). The Board’s action completes the local canvass prescribed by Iowa law and finalizes which candidates advance under the primary results.
The Board took the action under Iowa Code §50.22 and noted the canvass was performed in accordance with §§43.49 and 50.24. No clerical errors were identified during the canvass, the resolution states. The Board did not change any ballot counts during the meeting.
The Board adjourned later in the meeting and will reconvene on June 16, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. at the Franklin County Courthouse.
