Board adopts updated public records policy to align links and state requirement

The Kitsap Regional Library Board of Trustees voted March 24 to adopt an updated public records policy that aligns agency links and reflects the library's prior determination that maintaining an index of public-records requests would be burdensome.
"This particular policy fulfills our requirements under RCW 42.56 0.07, and incorporates our resolution from 2024 where we acknowledge the library finds it would be burdensome and would interfere with library operations to maintain an index of public records requests," Library Director Jason Driver said when presenting the item. He said the update primarily revises links and wording "for ease of access."
A trustee moved to approve the policy as revised and a second was recorded. The board approved the policy by voice vote. The chair stated, "And that passes," and scheduled the next regular meeting for April 28 at 5:30 p.m.
The revised policy preserves the library's approach not to maintain a separate indexed log of requests while updating the online links that guide public access to records; no specific new fees, timeframes or record-indexing procedures were announced during the meeting.
