Laredo Commission for Women tables fraud presentation, welcomes two new members

The Chair said a presentation by Jessica Menola, identified in the meeting as a compliance officer at International Bank of Commerce, could not proceed because “due to work circumstances she had to be out of town today.” The Commission agreed to defer the presentation until the August meeting when Menola can attend.
The action came after roll call and the Chair’s welcome of two new members. The Chair introduced Tina, who will represent District 8, and Claudia, who will represent District 6, and welcomed them to the commission.
During routine business the Chair asked for a motion to approve the minutes “with corrections.” A motion was seconded and the Chair stated, “Okay, motion passes,” approving the minutes as amended.
Members discussed programming the commission brings to meetings, noting a recent presentation from the Tammy U women’s engineering program that included a robotics demonstration. The Chair said the commission’s mission focuses on categories intended to empower women and that bylaws are available on the city’s website.
The Commission also offered condolences to member Diana for the loss of her brother; the Chair asked Diana to “please accept our condolences from the Laredo Commission for Women” and extended sympathies from the group.
With no further business, the Chair adjourned the meeting.
