Hayden Arts Commission presents logo contest winner, awards $200 to local eighth grader

The Hayden Arts Commission on June 9 presented its new commission logo and named eighth-grader Sydney Gilbert of Lake City Academy as the contest winner.
Nancy Jones, chair of the commission, said the logo project aimed to give the commission a creative identity for flyers and outreach and to provide a local youth opportunity. "We were so very tickled... Sydney Gilbert... she kind of blew us away," Jones said, praising the design for reflecting community beauty and creative detail.
Mayor Davis and other council members joined the presentation and presented Gilbert with a $200 prize. The council praised the bench program and other arts activities that the commission supports as part of its mission to bring art into the city.
The logo will be used on commission materials, and the commission said it intends to continue partnering with local artists and youth on future projects.
