Marion County audit receives clean opinion; county expects GFOA recognition

Marion County's external auditors reported an unmodified opinion on the county's fiscal year 2025 financial statements and found no material weaknesses, the auditor said at the May 19 commission meeting.
Tim Westgate, audit partner with Pervis Gray and Company, told commissioners the firm issued "a clean opinion on the audit," the highest level of assurance for external financial statements, and commended county staff and constitutional officers for their cooperation. He also said the county has applied for and expects to receive the Government Finance Officers Association certificate of achievement for financial reporting.
Commissioners praised the finance team and the clerk's office for transparency and for pursuing voluntary reporting programs above statutory requirements. The clerk's office and budget staff later joined the dais for recognition and photographs.
