Police: 20–30 people gathered on Hazel Street; four handguns recovered, more arrests expected

Police Chief Bush told the Wickliffe City Council on June 8 that officers responded to a June 2 disturbance on Hazel Street involving a large group of youths, multiple adults and some parents. "We ended up confiscating four handguns at the scene and we are still investigating it to have more charges coming," Chief Bush said.
Chief Bush said two people were arrested at the scene and that investigators expect to obtain additional arrests by warrant as the probe continues. He said no one was injured in the melee. The chief also reported two new hires who are currently in the academy and will be sworn in at the June 22 council meeting.
Council members thanked police for their response and the mayor publicly commended Chief Bush and other departments for handling what could have become a more serious incident. The council did not take formal action related to the Hazel Street case during the meeting.
