Plymouth RDA authorizes expanding sign and façade grant eligibility beyond downtown

Tim Blakeslee, staff member, explained the program had been limited to businesses in the downtown district and said “a request has been made by a small business located outside the downtown area to expand eligibility beyond Downtown Plymouth.” Commissioners moved quickly to consider the change.
Commissioner Donna Hahn moved to authorize grant eligibility outside the downtown area, and Commissioner Ronna O’Toole seconded. The motion passed with six aye votes; Commissioner Carole O’Malley recorded an abstention. The motion specifies that each request for eligibility outside the downtown boundary will be subject to formal RDA approval.
The change does not itself allocate new funding; it alters who may apply for existing Sign and Façade Grant awards. The minutes do not record any dollar amounts or additional program rules adopted at the meeting. RDA staff will process any future applications under the amended eligibility and bring proposals requiring financial commitment back to the board for formal action.
