The council approved an agreement with Volusia County to provide a School Resource Officer to serve South Daytona Elementary for the 2026–2027 school year. The council also authorized purchase and installation of plush artificial turf and a berm for the Reed Canal Park Prehistoric Playground project through a Sourcewell cooperative contract with ForeverLawn Central Florida in the amount of $701,356; Gillis said the Reed Canal Park makeover is funded through Volusia County's ECHO program.
Council also approved an agreement with AXON to provide body cameras and tasers at $7,936 per month for the next 63 months and the purchase of a replacement police vehicle with graphics for $56,242 to replace a vehicle totaled in the line of duty. The consent agenda was approved by a single motion; no separate roll call votes were recorded in the minutes.
