The Village City Council approved a building design and zoning resolution for a planned expansion of First Bank at 9601 M Avenue North and ratified two collective bargaining agreements during its June 8 meeting.
Planning staff reported the bank project will add about 16,000 square feet to the west side of the existing building, add parking behind the site, and retain design continuity with the current structure. Council took no substantive questions on the proposal and approved Resolution 06826A by a 5-0 vote.
City staff summarized two negotiated labor agreements. The deal with the International Association of Firefighters Local 3598 for fiscal year 2026–27 includes a 6% overall wage increase, additions to the uniform allowance (two pairs of pants and one polo shirt), added compensatory time for callback work, and edits to contract language (Article 2, Section 3). Staff said the package was structured to provide greater equity for lower-paid positions and fits the current budget. Council approved the IAFF agreement unanimously.
The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 222 agreement for 2026–27 also carries a 6% wage increase as the primary change; council approved that contract 5-0.

The meeting proceeded afterward to financial and departmental reports.
