Committee members and county finance staff discussed alternatives including a phased or "stairstep" transfer, relying on projected increases in assessed value, and monitoring carryover numbers. Scott from the treasurer's office said adding $300,000 in recurring county general expenditures would be manageable but urged caution about midyear commitments. Committee members voted to forward ordinance 2616 to the full court and recommended the recorder work with a JP to craft ordinance language and provide clearer 2026 projections for the full-court packet.
The full court will consider ordinance 2616 in an upcoming session; committee members requested detailed projections and options for phased implementation.
