The Faulkner County Budget and Finance Committee voted to forward proposed ordinance 2613 after an assessor’s office representative (introduced at the meeting as Miss Lewis) described plans to staff a Greenbrier satellite location and the need for an additional employee to handle heavy caller volumes and personal-property assessments.
Miss Lewis told the committee that the office fields many calls about vehicle assessments and that peak demand concentrates at the start and end of each month. She said the office has not added permanent positions in many years and that funding an additional staffer would cost county general about $2,800 for the remainder of this year and about $5,000 annually thereafter.
Committee members who represent northern districts described constituent experiences with long hold times and supported forwarding 2613 to the full court. The committee passed the motion by voice vote.
The ordinance will be taken up by the full court, where packet documents include staffing lines and budget estimates.
