Snowville council approves geophysical search for new water sources

The Snowville Town Council voted May 13 to proceed with a geophysical search for potential new water sources after staff presented mapped candidate sites.
Eric Dursteler outlined several properties—town-owned and private—on Snowville’s northeast side that geophysical methods (GPS plus electro-seismic surveying) could test without drilling. "The northeastern part of town are the better locations for aquifer and most water sources," Eric said, and he recommended securing permission to scout four sites including town land and a cemetery area.
AJ (water operator) and councilmembers agreed the proposed approach would be noninvasive and could help identify aquifer conduits and high-yield locations before any drilling. Brandon Garbanati moved to proceed with the search; LuAnn Johnson seconded and the motion passed by voice vote.
Council directed staff to contact property owners where surveys would occur, coordinate the survey work and report back with results and recommended next steps. The effort is grant-eligible under some programs (staff noted grant funding previously identified for water projects), and council asked staff to prioritize sites that maximize yield and minimize cost and landowner impacts.
