Jackie Acheson, executive director of the Arts Council of Monterey County, described two concurrent exhibitions placed in county buildings during the June 10 briefing, saying the government center show runs through the end of the year and includes 32 artists with 59 pieces displayed across three floors.
"It is open to the public, I think Monday through Friday, 8 to 5," Acheson said, and she announced a reception at the government center on June 16 from 4 to 5 p.m. She also said the Health Department at 1270 Natividad will host a reception on June 23 from 4 to 5 p.m.
Acheson described the selection process as a call to artists with curator and staff review; pieces are displayed for the full term and are available for sale via QR codes placed next to artworks. She emphasized the County’s goal of supporting local artists and noted two permanent murals in the government center, one by Jose Ortiz and another by Linetta, that reflect the region’s different geographies.
The Arts Council encourages interested artists to monitor calls for entries and contact the Arts Council for information on future opportunities.
