The Schererville Town Council on June 9 approved a $1,000 donation to the Northwest Indiana Cancer Kids Foundation and accepted $8,255 in donations for May, including in‑kind contributions and monetary sponsorships for parks and public programs.
Clerk Treasurer Michael Troxel provided a breakdown of donations and in‑kind values, which included sponsorships for the town festival and donations to the animal control and police VIPS fund. The council approved acceptance of the donations without recorded roll‑call objections.
During business from the floor, resident Georgian Glavis invited the community to the Logan’s Love annual golf outing scheduled for Friday, June 19, and Christy Fletcher of Planting Possibilities asked about the status of the former racetrack property; council members said the park board will follow up to discuss feasibility and next steps.
Staff said they would process the donations and coordinate any follow‑up with donors and the park board regarding property inquiries.
