Staffing study and job-description reviews tabled until acting superintendent can review

Members also agreed that job-description reviews should wait for feedback from the acting superintendent. Elizabeth asked that the acting superintendent be given time to review the proposed job descriptions before the committee resumes discussion.
One member questioned why the director of curriculum position requires principal certification. A staff presenter explained that principal certification demonstrates supervisory experience and familiarity with implementing curriculum and federal programs, saying the credential “demonstrates that that person has the knowledges and skills to act in the role of a supervisor of teachers” and helps ensure instructional quality across grade spans.
The committee deferred action and will revisit the staffing study and job descriptions when the acting superintendent or the staff presenter is available to provide input.
