The Webster School Committee on June 9 handled routine business and a set of formal actions, approving minutes, job descriptions, donations and financial warrants.
The committee approved the May 26 minutes by roll-call vote. It also voted to approve a revised job description that retitles the existing business manager role to Director of Finance and Operations to better reflect the scope of duties; the committee noted the title change does not alter the incumbent’s duties. The committee approved revisions to the groundskeeper/custodian job description that adjust the reporting structure (reporting to the Bartlett head custodian with a dotted line to the athletic director) and expand qualifications.
On donations and surplus items, the committee accepted a $500 gift to Bartlett High School PBIS given in memory of Barbara Jordan and hygiene products donated to Webster Middle School by the Dudley Women’s Club. The committee also declared a set of outdated or incomplete books from district archives as surplus and directed the superintendent or director of finance and operations to auction, donate or otherwise dispose of them under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 30B.
Finally, the committee approved the transfer/signing of warrants, bills, payroll and vouchers and adjourned the meeting.
Votes at a glance: minutes approved (unanimous roll call), strategic plan approved (three yes, one no), director of finance and operations job description approved (unanimous), groundskeeper/custodian job description approved (unanimous), donations accepted (unanimous), surplus declaration approved (unanimous), warrants approved (unanimous).
