Board approves parkland-fee and public-facilities text amendments

Planning Director Lisa Thompson (speaker 19) said TA152024 adjusts acreage-per-unit assumptions using recent census data and recommended values (for example, increasing single-family acreage assumptions to reflect higher household sizes) to align with the goal of one acre of park per 100 residents. "We were able to increase those park acreage amounts," Thompson said.
Thompson also presented TA142024 on reservation of land, explaining staff would notify relevant agencies and allow a statutory 18-month reservation period (consistent with state statute language referenced in the meeting). The text amendment clarifies that identified sites must be in the comprehensive plan and that agencies have 30 days to respond whether they wish to reserve a site.
Both amendments were moved and approved during the meeting; planning staff will implement the updated calculations and the reservation notification process for future development proposals.
