El Segundo Unified board approves contracts, temporary borrowing authority and labor agreements in unanimous votes

The El Segundo Unified School District Board approved a series of routine but consequential items June 9, voting unanimously on resolutions, contracts and tentative labor agreements.
After the consent agenda passed, the board accepted several donations read by Clerk Sutherland and approved temporary financial safeguards designed to support district cash flow: Resolution No. 162526 permitting temporary borrowing between district funds for fiscal year 2026–27, and Resolution No. 172526 authorizing a temporary transfer from LA County pooled funds if needed. Dr. Lince explained both resolutions as precautionary measures and recommended approval; the board voted in favor, recorded as 5–0.
The board also approved a three‑year audit engagement with Christy White & Associates to conduct annual independent and Measure ES audits, and authorized an agreement with the LA County Office of Education for a business enhancement/fiscal processing system for 2026–27. Facilities and services contracts approved included a proposal from G&G Door Products to update door hardware at Eagle Nest Arena High School and district offices, and renewal of the district—contract with Fagen Freeman & Fulfrost (F3) for legal and educational consulting services for 2026–27.
On labor items, the board opened brief public hearings on tentative agreements. No members of the public spoke, and the board approved the tentative agreement with the El Segundo Teachers Association (ESTA) for the 2025–26 fiscal year and a tentative agreement with the district's non‑represented employees for 2025–26. Board members publicly thanked negotiators from both sides for collaborative work.
Instructional and program approvals included adopting National Geographic Lift as the designated ELD curriculum for grades 9–12 at El Segundo High School, approval of alternate special education report cards for K–5, and authorization of 2026 summer credit recovery, geometry, and extended school year programming; staff said those programs are fully staffed. Several curriculum and policy items (Williams uniform complaint procedures, AP personal finance curriculum, middle school language arts) were previewed and will return for formal approval.
