Fort Wayne board appoints Willie Burton to fill District 3 seat

The appointee’s term will expire Dec. 31, 2028, and Burton is expected to be seated at the board’s next regular meeting.
Board members who spoke in support cited Burton’s community service and involvement with youth programs. The board’s nomination procedure required four affirmative votes to appoint a nominee; members moved and seconded the nomination and then voted in favor.
The board thanked all applicants for their willingness to serve.
