City staff: HCD has approved Hanford’s housing element; new alternate commissioner introduced

During director’s comments at the June 9 meeting, the Community Development director told the Planning Commission that the city's resubmitted housing element has been approved by the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD), marking completion of that state review step.
The director said, “We were notified last week by HCD that they've also approved it. So we are officially done with the housing element.” The commission then introduced a new alternate commissioner, Mr. Warris, who the director said will be sworn in soon.
No formal action on the housing element was recorded during the meeting; staff presented the update as informational.
The meeting then moved to commissioners’ items of interest.
