Council extends on-call civil engineering contracts to cover staff capacity gaps

Public Works staff recommended extending three on-call civil engineering contracts to ensure the town retains needed engineering expertise for upcoming capital projects and for technical review of plans. Melena told council that a request for qualifications in 2024 produced four qualified firms and that contracts were executed with three firms: Ironside Engineering and Development, Ardura, and the WLB Group.
Melena said the town no longer has an on-staff professional engineer after the departure of a staff member and that the contract extensions will allow the town to access structural, electrical and other engineering specialties for projects such as the Mount Meadow water storage tank and Spear Mountain Drive road design. She noted local benefits from using a firm with a local surveyor and emphasized the advantage of multiple firms with complementary specialties.
Counselor Heisler moved to adopt resolution 26-1816 approving contract amendment number one to extend the on-call civil engineering professional services contracts and authorize the town manager to execute necessary documents; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously. Staff will proceed with contracting and assign project tasks as needed.
