Canyons School District briefed the board on its migration from Skyward to the Q student information system, laying out conversion and family registration timelines and planned supports.
Business administrator Leon Wilcox said Skyward data will be taken offline June 25 for extraction and conversion. The district expects converted data back for review in mid-July and is targeting a July 20 rollout to staff and families; online back-to-school registration is planned to open August 3.
Staff described a robust training program: since January the district has completed dozens of targeted trainings for school offices, teachers, nurses, food services and other staff and will continue sessions through June, July and August. Eric, a district implementation lead, said 58 trainings had already occurred and promised ongoing sessions to build user capacity.
Families will see a mobile-friendly tile-based interface that can be tailored per school and will support browser translation for non-English speakers. The district plans to import most student data so families primarily verify rather than re-enter information; residency will still require verification.
Staff also said they expect to integrate the food-service free/reduced application into the registration workflow in time for launch and to include transportation route details and editable emergency contacts in the registration process.
No formal vote was requested; the board asked staff to continue outreach to families and school staff before the rollout.
