The Marbletown town board held its first meeting of the year and completed the usual slate of organizational steps: approving minutes, designating official papers and depositories, and confirming appointments to boards and committees.
Key personnel actions included reappointing Harry Hansen to a seven-year term on the planning board, elevating Celia Slesinger from alternate to fill the vacancy created when Max joined the town board, and reappointing Zachary Gumple as an alternate. The board appointed Dave as planning-board chair and praised the board’s training and coordination efforts.
The board reappointed Kathleen Grahamling and Nancy Bergsall to the Zoning Board of Appeals and reappointed Tom Smiley as ZBA chair. Bin Rashong was reappointed to the Community Preservation Fund Advisory Board; Wendy Saul and Gail Wane were appointed to the Parks, Trails and Recreation Committee.
On intermunicipal services, the board approved continued cost-sharing for the Rondout Municipal Center with Rosendale (personnel and maintenance split 50/50), shared safety-officer services and training (Dorene and Michael Williams), and arrangements whereby Rosendale provides operations for the High Falls Water District while Marbletown pays roughly one-third of the salaries/benefits. The board also continued an assessor-sharing arrangement that has reduced costs while splitting limited hours across the two towns.
Most motions were moved, seconded and recorded as carried. Where budget details were mentioned, the board referenced posted salary schedules on the town website and cited contract and budgeting rules governing elected salaries and union-covered holiday schedules.
What happens next: staff will follow through on onboarding the appointees, post final minutes and documentation to the town website, and return routine follow-ups at subsequent meetings.
