District seeks $3.1M intercom replacement and classroom digital signage under 2025 bond; board to consider next meeting

SAN ANGELO ISD staff presented plans to replace campus intercom systems and add classroom digital signage as part of the 2025 bond safety-and-security projects.
Miss Doyle said many campus intercom components are aging and that an RFP was developed with Krux Communications to identify an enterprise-grade solution able to integrate with access-control and emergency systems. Two bids were received; Sultter scored highest and submitted a lower price and shorter timeline than the other respondent. The project as presented to the board carries an estimated base cost of $3,135,295 plus a $100,000 contingency and an anticipated performance bond cost of under $50,000. Several campuses (Glenn, McGill, Crockett) will have their intercom upgrades handled through their active construction projects, staff said.
Board members asked for a visualization and timeline; staff agreed to include a more detailed per-campus cost breakdown and the performance-bond cost in Friday Facts ahead of the next meeting when formal approval will be requested.
What's next: staff will bring a formal contract recommendation and the performance-bond figure to the next board meeting for approval; work at central campuses is time-sensitive because demolition and construction timing requires completion before certain buildings are removed.
