Panther Foundation presents grant support to Spring Lake Park Schools, including $25,000 piano contribution

Representatives of the Panther Foundation presented a ceremonial check to Spring Lake Park Schools describing grants that support 23 different projects districtwide and highlighted several specific contributions, including $25,000 toward replacing a grand piano in the district fine arts center.

Nyall Zickman, identified in the meeting as the outgoing Panther Foundation chairperson, introduced the check and summarized the foundation’s grants and initiatives. "This is a big check that represents the totality of grants and initiatives the Panther Foundation awarded this year," a presenter said during the presentation. The foundation also described funding for student milestone t-shirts for kindergarten, fifth grade and ninth grade, transportation support for teams participating in state championships, seven years of senior signs, and collaboration with the Spring Lake Park Lions Club.

Rachel Fulen was introduced as the incoming Panther Foundation chair, and Colleen Peterson was identified as the district’s executive director of community education and outreach and thanked for facilitating the partnership. Foundation speakers emphasized volunteer time and community participation as central to the foundation’s work and said that the foundation’s fundraising and events provide both financial support and community engagement that benefit students and staff.

Board members thanked the foundation and praised its role in supporting programs that district budgets may not cover, noting the foundation’s role in enhancing student experiences beyond core operations.
