Pete, the district’s director of public safety, explained that municipal ordinance classifies vehicles by top speed and engine size and said motorcycles, by definition, would not be covered by the phrase "motorized bicycles." "So it wouldn't include motorcycles," Pete said, clarifying the municipal distinction.
Board members who raised concerns asked that the language mirror local ordinance or explicitly exclude licensed motorcycles and lawful devices while still preventing the hazardous use of small, rapid-acceleration vehicles on campus. Administration recommended returning a cleaned-up draft for the board to review in the coming weeks so the handbooks can be ready for the July 1 effective date or for registration deadlines.
