San Ramon Teen Council reports on wellness, senior tech help and ambassador program

The San Ramon Teen Council presented its 2025–26 annual report to the City Council on June 9, outlining volunteer activities, program outcomes and recommended goals for 2026–27.

Staff member Jessica introduced the Teen Council and turned the presentation over to the chair, who described the council’s four ad hoc efforts during the year: teen wellness (focus on mental health awareness and peer transition programs), the Outstanding Teen Citizenship Award (streamlined application and selection process), Senior Tech Days (hands‑on help for older adults on devices and cybersecurity), and the ambassador program (19 ambassadors from area schools who produced projects on topics such as financial literacy and career mentorship).

The Teen Council reported quantifiable achievements: four Senior Tech Days at the Alcosta Senior and Community Center, expansion of outreach via school visits and ambassadors, and the selection of a student award winner who had raised over $400,000 through a nonprofit initiative. The council recommended a shorter, more flexible set of goals for 2026–27 (bylaw review; stronger partnerships; celebrate teen achievements; expand middle‑school engagement; boost outreach; continue ad hoc committees).

Council members praised the teens’ leadership and confirmed ongoing liaison support; several council members encouraged bylaw review to ensure the council remains action‑oriented. Graduating Teen Council members were recognized by name and future plans were noted.
