Tribal Vice-Chair Rick Peterson and Tribal Chairwoman Nicole Boyd both said they favor a joint resolution to show regional solidarity.
Boyd said the tribe has not received an economic-impact statement from Rep. Tom Tiffany’s office and described zero consultation from Tiffany, saying the lack of engagement shows insufficient attention to community wellbeing and public safety. Participants discussed preparing a document summarizing concerns—covering infrastructure, EMS, and housing—that would be addressed to legislators whose votes could affect the redesignation.
No formal vote was recorded at the March 4 meeting. Abeles-Allison noted Rep. Tiffany’s regional aide offered to meet with community members, but Boydwould not meet with the aide and said Tiffany should come in person.
