County attorney: mediation produced agreement to stop Htown operations; commission to vote

County Attorney Ben Golden told commissioners a mediation in advance of a trial produced an agreement in principle that, if approved by the commission, would require Htown and associated parties to permanently cease operations on the subject property and record restrictive covenants. "We were able to reach an agreement in principle that would require Htown to ... permanently cease all operations on the subject property," Golden said, adding the defendants had already executed the agreement and the mediation was conditioned on the commission's formal approval within 30 days.
Golden said the agreement would apply to the land as a restrictive covenant and to the individuals and companies with current interests in the property. Commissioners thanked Golden and the sheriff for their work during mediation and suggested the item will be placed on the agenda for formal approval the next day.
No trial will proceed if the commission approves the agreement as requested; Golden characterized the mediation as productive and said adoption of the resolution would allow the county to execute the agreement.
