Engineers provided county road numbers listed in the packet and said a public hearing is required for application; commissioners agreed to set the hearing for June 23. Staff and the county grant writer, Cara Stallman, told the commission that making a larger local match—on the order of $650,000 to $750,000 total project cost—would make applications more competitive against other cities and counties.
Commissioners also discussed operational items tied to roadwork: signage for a narrow segment of County Road 209 to prohibit parking, a shop-foreman vacancy the county is preparing to re-advertise, and that bridge and road schedules will depend on weather and budget-year timing. The engineer said if funded the work would likely be budgeted in the next fiscal year.
