Probate judge seeks to move Collins Chapel precinct back to fire station for November

Probate Judge Jason Calhoun told the Chilton County Commission he will submit a resolution to relocate Voter Precinct 210 from Collins Chapel Baptist Church back to the Collins Chapel Fire Station. "The fire station is now ready and they're excited," Calhoun said, adding the move would not take effect until the November general election; the runoff next week will remain at the Baptist church.
Calhoun said the fire station had been unusable after a tornado in 2020 and that volunteers and local leaders have helped restore the facility. He thanked the church for hosting elections while reconstruction took place.
The request drew no questions from commissioners at the meeting; Calhoun said the relocation will be presented to the commission for formal action at the next meeting. Voters in Precinct 210 should expect the polling place to change for the November general election if the commission adopts the requested resolution.
