Board of Examiners approves $50 million transfer, contingency allocations and dozens of leases and contracts

The State of Nevada Board of Examiners on June 9 approved a slate of routine and financial actions, including a temporary transfer of $50 million from the state general fund to the Abandoned Property Trust Account and recommendations to the Interim Finance Committee for contingency allocations totaling $3,495,956.
Chair opened the meeting, confirmed a quorum with Governor Lombardo, Attorney General Ford and Secretary Aguular present, and the board first approved the May 12, 2026 meeting minutes.
Under agenda item four staff presented a Department of Veterans Services request to purchase two state vehicles not to exceed $25,381; the board approved the purchase. Under agenda item five the board approved three requests to contract with current or former state employees: Michael Freriedman through Supportive Living Solutions, Randy Melvin Brown through OnPoint Behavioral LLC, and Kelly Williams through Manpower to provide subject-matter expertise for biennial budget development and fiscal year-end closing.
The board approved an item from the Department of Agriculture designating Agricultural Police Officer 2 and Agricultural Police Officer 3 positions as subject to a critical labor shortage for the period July 1, 2026–June 30, 2028.
Under agenda item seven staff requested two separate recommendations to the Interim Finance Committee under NRS 353.268. The Division of Public and Behavioral Health requested $858,500 to fund payment of sanctions imposed by the judicial court in Clark County (item 7A) and $2,637,456 to address an unanticipated shortfall for temporary medical contractors (item 7B). Both recommendations were approved by the board.
The Office of the State Treasurer, Unclaimed Property Division, requested approval of a temporary transfer of $50,000,000 from the state general fund to the Abandoned Property Trust Account pursuant to NRS 120A.620(6) to meet obligations to pay approved property claims; the board approved the transfer.
The Division of State Lands presented a lease agreement involving the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs and the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce pursuant to NRS 322.007; the board approved that lease. The board also approved five proposed leases (item 10), 89 proposed contracts (item 11) and 42 master service agreements (item 12) as presented. Item 13, a clerk-of-the-board informational report listing 74 clerk-approved contracts in the $10,000–$99,999 threshold, was received as informational and closed.
The board took all votes by voice; motions were recorded as passing on the record. No public comments were filed during either opportunity for public comment.
What happens next: approved recommendations to the Interim Finance Committee proceed per statute or committee processes; the $50 million transfer to the Abandoned Property Trust Account was approved by the Board of Examiners as a temporary transfer to allow the Treasurer’s office to meet approved claim obligations.
