Several board members indicated willingness to support the request; others asked for clarity on precisely what elements would be omitted if the district withheld the $20,000 and noted that capital projects funds are restricted and ultimately require replenishment, which can shift future burdens to taxpayers.
Mr. Weston said the requested $20,000 would come from a restricted capital projects account and affirmed staff would provide more detailed cost breakdowns and options to the board. No vote or appropriation occurred at the meeting; trustees asked staff for a clear delineation of what the district contribution would enable and what would be deferred if the money was not approved.
The foundation representative thanked the board for consideration and said community and donor commitments make reaching the sound and lighting portion of the project feasible with district support.
