Council describes summer meal program at 10 parks, promises outreach to expand access

Parks staff confirmed improved recruitment this summer and said they are working toward full staffing for seasonal programs.

Residents and public commenters urged the council to prioritize extending pool hours and restoring full programming in several parks where service has been reduced; some speakers argued that special‑events spending should not come at the expense of basic park services. Staff responded that many special‑events expenditures are budgeted separately and that sponsorships offset a portion of event costs. Staff committed to publishing the list of the 10 parks offering meals and to providing program schedules to council.
