Supervisor: police headquarters design moves forward; septic review and office moves continuing

At the June 8 meeting the town supervisor reported on progress for the new police headquarters and related municipal facility work.
The supervisor said geotechnical sampling at the police headquarters site is complete and the septic design has been submitted to the health department for review. An architect met with department personnel to develop design details, and town staff are pursuing parallel steps on design and permitting. The supervisor said the town is working through potential sets of health‑department comments and will seek to keep the project on track for construction when approvals are complete.
Residents who raised concerns about the pace or terms of a police move were given two responses. Simone O'Connor, participating by Zoom, accused the superintendent of attempting to move the police department out earlier than an agreed date and described the action as “vindictive” toward taxpayers who opposed Prop 3; the board did not take formal action on that allegation during the public portion. Barbara Mangione asked for an update on testing, Department of Health and DEP reviews and on whether other offices have moved into the Route 35 complex; board staff said second‑floor offices for building, planning, assessor and zoning have been furnished and a transaction window is being installed prior to staff moves, with July/August as a projected timeframe.
No firm new dates were set for final move‑in or construction milestones at the June 8 meeting; officials asked residents to follow planning‑board filings and health‑department reviews for detailed schedules.
