Residents ask Lewisboro to revisit private heliport rules after application withdrawn

Dawn Christopher of South Salem asked the Lewisboro Town Board on June 8 for an update on the review of Local Law No. 8, saying the recent private heliport application generated substantial community concern and that withdrawal of that application presents an opportunity to reconsider whether the code reflects residents’ wishes.
“Many neighboring communities have chosen not to permit private heliports because of the unique impacts they have on residential neighborhoods, including noise, safety concerns, and quality of life,” Christopher said.
Board members told speakers that routine public‑comment rules prevent extended discussion during that slot; commenters were directed to email or call staff for interim questions. At the end of the meeting the supervisor confirmed staff had not yet reworked the law since the last board meeting but said they would review which elements to keep or resend and that any rescission or amendment would require the public‑hearing process.
No ordinance change or vote occurred on June 8. Residents seeking to influence any revision were told to watch for staff updates and the formal public‑hearing schedule before the board can take legislative action.
