Board members received a progress update on capital referendum projects and facilities work during the June 8 meeting, including an in‑depth look at the athletic field turf installation and the status of the Washington Middle School property.
Facilities staff said contractors have completed drainage work and are preparing the gravel base for turf; pole installation and perimeter footings were expected to begin by the end of the week. Staff noted underground electrical work had been completed largely by local volunteers and alumni, and that a minor change order related to a turf graphic will be presented in July. Locker‑room floors were slated to be installed later in June, and staff cautioned that final payments and close‑out scheduling likely will occur in August, after major summer work is finished.
On property sales, the district reported that an earlier contingent offer for the Washington Middle School site could not be finalized because some contingencies were not met; the district has re‑listed the property and is considering potential offers. The board moved into closed session later in the evening to discuss negotiation strategy for that property with the district’s real‑estate representative.
Board members expressed appreciation for staff and community volunteers who assisted with the field work and discussed potential donations toward scoreboard and other amenities. Staff said they will return with the formal change order for turf graphics and with financial close‑out details when available.
