Summary
Staff presented the DNR 2020 Community Tree Report; commissioners noted an overabundance of maples and flagged many 'new' trees that may be on University of Minnesota or State Fair property and asked to review the forester's boulevard list before planting.

At the May 11 meeting, Staff Liaison Myhren presented the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources 2020 Community Tree Report for Falcon Heights and asked commissioners to review a forester's recommended boulevard tree list.
Several commissioners questioned the report's validity, saying the prevalence of maples and many entries marked "new" suggested some plantings may have occurred on adjacent University of Minnesota or State Fair land rather than in Falcon Heights right-of-way. Commissioners were asked to suggest which species to add or remove from the boulevard list.
Myhren reminded commissioners that boulevard tree signups are open now and that staff will notify residents about selected plantings before installation begins. No formal action was taken at the meeting.
