During the June 10 CRA budget workshop, staff reported they have compiled mailing lists by district (Central Business District about 483 properties; North Historic about 63; South Historic about 161) and presented an illustrative quarterly postcard mail-out cost of about $2,205.84. Commissioners debated mailing frequency (annual, semiannual, quarterly), postcard versus fuller mailers, digital outreach, and the value of direct mail versus other outreach channels.
On downtown parking, staff said a parking and access management study had been scoped with consultant estimates between $15,000 and $25,000 but that a full scope of work was pending; staff committed to supplying the scope the following week. Commissioners suggested first checking for prior parking studies and using in-house staff or volunteers to compile an interim map and brochure, so the city does not duplicate prior work. One commissioner volunteered to look for an earlier study; staff agreed to search city records and present options.
No funding decisions were made. Commissioners requested that staff return with the parking study scope, identify prior studies or maps, and present alternatives including a limited consultant scope, in-house compilation and potential grant opportunities.
