Commission approves Gillespie Street closure and interlocal demolition agreements
Summary
The commission adopted Ordinance 1835 to abandon an unbuilt section of Gillespie Street at the request of Pampa ISD (with a 20-foot utility easement) and approved interlocal agreements with Pampa ISD, Gray County, Clarendon College and the groundwater district to address trust properties and demolition of dilapidated structures.
The Pampa City Commission adopted Ordinance 1835 on second and final reading to close an unbuilt section of Gillespie Street bordered by property owned by the same owner, following a staff explanation that Pampa ISD requested the street closure and that a 20-foot utility easement will be shown on the replat to preserve future utility access.
Separately, commissioners approved interlocal agreements with Pampa Independent School District, Gray County, Clarendon College and the Panhandle Groundwater Conservation District to address trust properties and the demolition of dilapidated structures. Staff (Carrie Rushing) reported that the school district and county had approved the interlocal agreements and the remaining partners were scheduled to consider the items at upcoming meetings.
Commissioners moved, seconded and approved both the street abandonment ordinance and the package of interlocal agreements by voice votes. Staff indicated the replat to remove the unbuilt street and show the utility easement would be filed if ordinance adoption was finalized.
