Lincoln County approves $67,800 for Justice Center signage after naming debate

Drew Gro of the state's attorney's office presented a procurement quote for signage at the Lincoln County Justice Center and described exterior monument signs, cast-aluminum letters and interior wayfinding items in a package priced at $67,800 plus taxes and permits.
Commissioners clarified that the quoted price covered monument signage for both the north and south entrances and interior signage such as ADA door schedules and courtroom crests. Drew said the monument signs were priced as a double-faced unit that would serve both entrance points.
Several public commenters and a commissioner raised concerns about messaging: whether the signage should read "Lincoln County Justice Center," "Lincoln County Courthouse," or reference a broader "Lincoln County government campus." One public commenter said it was a surprise to see the 'campus' phrasing at the point of purchase. A commissioner said she could approve the purchase "if it's called the Lincoln County Courthouse or Lincoln County Justice Center" and the motion was amended to the latter.
The board approved the amended motion by roll call: Commissioner Putnham voted no; Commissioners Schmidt, Arens and Landine voted yes.
Next steps: Procurement and the county will complete permitting and sign installation as planned; interior wayfinding and courtroom crests will follow the approved design specifications.
