Clinton City’s Committee of the Whole voted to advance a developer agreement for two city-owned parcels on 19th Place, council members said. Tammy Johnson, the city’s community development director, told the committee she had worked with the prospective developer to finalize terms and that the developer indicated plans to begin work within 18 months (the packet also included an alternate timeline of up to three years).
The committee’s vote sends the agreement forward to a business meeting for final consideration. Johnson said the two parcels are in a desirable neighborhood and that the agreement preserves the previously negotiated price while shortening the developer’s required start window. "They’re willing to start the project in 18 months," she said.
Council members asked about the parcels’ location and neighborhood context, noting the lots have alley access and are adjacent to newer houses. No members raised objections to the terms as presented. After a motion and second, the committee took a roll-call vote and recorded unanimous support to advance the agreement.
The next procedural step is a business meeting where final authorization could occur; the committee did not adopt a final sale at tonight’s meeting.
